$150,000 in repairs for Tinana's flood-damaged Pioneer Park
THREE years after it was devastated by floodwaters, Tinana residents are celebrating the reopening of the popular Pioneer Park walkway.
Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said the 240m section of concrete path, which runs from the Lamington Bridge and along the Mary River, was extensively damaged during the 2010, 2011 and 2013 floods.
"A new route had to be surveyed around areas where the riverbank had washed away," he said.
"It was not a simple job of just replacing the missing and damaged concrete sections."
He said the $150,000 project was undertaken in conjunction with local contractors JAC Civil.
The council received the funds from the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
