2014 Ferrari 458 Spider looking good in Beverly Hills

FOR this week's blog, I am featuring this insanely gorgeous 2014 Ferrari 458 Spider that I spotted in the centre of Beverly Hills.

This convertible supercar is equipped with a 4.5-litre, 32 valve V8 engine which can produce up to 419 kilowatts (562 horsepower) at 9000rpm and 540 Newton metres of torque (398 pound-feet of torque) at 6000rpm.

Yes, you read correctly, the 419 kilowatts that the engine produces is delivered at 9000rpm…from an eight-cylinder donk!

When in 'Race' mode, the shifts are almost instant and extremely smooth, unlike the Lamborghini Aventador that could quite literally give you a backache.

The 2014 Ferrari 458 Spider also has a dry weight of 1430 kilograms (3153 pounds), this is 50 kilograms (111 pounds) heavier than the coupe variant, which has a dry weight of just 1380 kilograms (3042 pounds).

When you combine all of these specifications, it allows this Italian stallion to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour (0-62 miles per hour) in just under 3.4 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 320 kilometres per hour (199 miles per hour).

Unlike the F430 Spider that this Ferrari replaces, the roof on the 458 Spider is actually a metal folding roof, not like the usual cloth fabric.

This means it is stronger to provide a stiffer chassis and it also looks a lot better.

It will also fold up 14 seconds faster than the old roof.

When the roof is up and you look at the side of the 458 Spider, you can only just tell the difference between the two, it's incredible.

Some other features that this particular Ferrari is equipped with includes 20-inch five-spoke forged alloy wheels wrapped in performance tyres, carbon ceramic brakes with Rosso Corsa coated brake calipers, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, Xenon headlights as well as daytime running lights, tyre pressure monitoring and much more.

Some interior features include carbon fibre racing seats, a carbon fibre driving zone with rpm LED's on the steering wheel, dual-zone climate controls for the driver and passenger.

You can currently buy a new Ferrari 458 Spider for about $590,000 AUD.
