Council's $2.2 million Boundary Rd upgrade to start soon

BOUNDARY Rd will be reduced to one lane during a $2.2 milion project to refurbish a section of road outside the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre.

As part of the project, 900m of the road from Bideford St to Denmans Camp Rd will be rebuilt.

The works will involve pavement rehabilitation, drainage improvments, parking bays and surfacing.

Fraser Coast Regional Council infrastructure, planning and delivery portfolio councillor Trevor McDonald said it was an overdue project.

"With the state of this road nobody will argue that it's long overdue for an upgrade," he said.

The $2.2 million contract was awarded to Lanson Civil - the company currently building the Urraween Distributor Rd (Main St to Bay Dr).

Work on the Boundary Rd reconstruction project is expected to begin on May 13 and take four months to complete.
