M'boro adventurers revved up for big desert journey
A TEAM of Fraser Coast four-wheel drivers left Maryborough on Saturday, bound for the hot sands of the Simpson Desert.
Mixing with red sands, opal mines and freshwater lakes, about 16 members of the Fraser Coast 4WD Club will tackle the outback in a trip expected to take several months.
Led by Kevin Pearson, members of the eight-car convoy will sleep under the stars in some of the most remote parts of the country.
They will visit outback towns as they embark on a history tour, visiting the site where gold was discovered in 1880.
They'll also visit Cooper Creek where Burke and Wills camped as they explored Australia.
