Aged care to support Fraser Coast homeless
HOMELESS people and those at risk of becoming homeless will soon be able to take shelter and be cared for by an aged care home in Maryborough.
Yaralla Place has been promised more than $2 million to create 40 new residential care homes, including five places for the homeless.
Each of these new beds will cost $62,000.
Federal member for Wide Bay Warren Truss said the home services were important to the people in the region.
"They enable (Australians) to receive care while remaining in the comfort, security and familiar surrounds of their own home for as long as possible," Mr Truss said.
"This extra funding will help these aged care organisations in Wide Bay to continue to provide a variety of services."
