Rare fish climbs to death

A rare fish found in the Susan River has died.

The blackspot angler fish or Tathicarpus Butleri was caught by Dundowran fisherman Jack Stocks after it grabbed a hold of his crab pot with what appeared to be hands and legs.

It's believed the fish jumped from the tank where it was being held at Reefworld Hervey Bay.

"They think it jumped out during the night and they found it in the morning," Jack said.
