Bugler remembers father through solemn services
FOR 16-year-old James Cresswell, playing the bugle at Anzac Day services was a way to honour and remember his father.
As he played the last post at the Hervey Bay dawn service, theHis RSLCare Baycrest morning service and the main Hervey Bay service in front of more than 6000 people, the Urangan State High School student proudly wore his father's medal.
James' mum Deborah told the Chronicle his father had earned the medal after serving in Papua New Guinea in the 1970s and had passed away from Parkinson's not that long ago.
James said the day was "pretty intense" for him.
"I'm pretty proud to be able to do it," James said.
"I'll always go to Anzac day, so it's not forgotten."
