Sex, Drugs and Meditation author to speak in M'boro

THE author of Sex, Drugs and Meditation will soon be making a special appearance in Maryborough.

Mary-Lou Stephens will be the guest speaker at the Zonta Club's International Women's Day Celebrations on March 7.

Mary-Lou's memoir is about how meditation changed her life, saved her job and helped her find a husband.

About 10 years ago the Sunshine Coast-based ABC broadcaster was struggling with life until she went on an "astounding" meditation retreat.

She said the getaway taught her the only thing she could change about her life was herself.

"I used to play in bands, I used to take a lot of drugs and I had lots of relationships that never worked out," she said.

Years later Mary-Lou decided to share her story and released her book in April.

"People have said that it has changed their life," she said.

Mary-Lou said a member of the Zonta Club of Maryborough contacted her after hearing about the book from a friend.
"That's the effect the book has on people," she said.

The Zonta breakfast will begin at 6.15am and finish by 8am at the Carriers Arms Hotel Motel in Maryborough.

Tickets are available for $26 from Anne's Irresistible Lingerie at 399 Kent St in Maryborough with proceeds going to Zonta's community projects.
