Superb gathering of actors and an established director

OPINION: Z-PAC Theatre's Summer of the Seventeenth Doll aptly leads its Summer Season for 2015.

Usually I wouldn't be too confident predicting the success of any stage offering (Broadway has had its share of unexpected flops) but here we have a superb gathering of actors and an establish director - Judith La Forest.

The cast consists of Jonathon Dunn, Tamara Bailey, Mark Thomson, Stuart Waters, Taylor Dunn, Judith La Forest and Janene Sweetnam.

Ray Lawler's iconic play is set in Melbourne and in a typically Aussie way examines a relationship dilemma that arises from an annual love affair in its eponymous 17th year.

The audience is led through an action-packed, comedic and dramatically endearing tale that plays out one of life's great dilemmas - the juxtaposition of living and loving.

Keep your eye open for what should prove to be great entertainment with lots of laughs and a gentle tear or two.

Z-PAC has programmed its extensive 2015 itinerary (Google Z-PAC) which continues with the Broadway musical La Cage Aux Folles - from which the movie Birdcage was adapted.

Although I haven't a lot to report on this Bradley Chapman production I do know that further auditions are planned - contact Brad on 0433 481 746.

Z-PAC's long-standing Younger Group in collaboration with Addictive Dramatics now offers modern drama classes - contact Tamara by emailing or 0479 149 977.

Stage Rats are still deliberating its next Theatre Restaurant show.

Macabre Theatre is in the process of developing the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd.

Sondheim is the author of the current movie hit Into the Woods.
