Councillors vote to increase their remuneration package
FRASER Coast councillors have unanimously endorsed an increase to their remuneration packages, worth about an extra $4000 each, at the first meeting in Maryborough.
In addition to a computer, printer and phone, councillors now have the option of receiving a second phone or iPad for use.
Each councillor can also now claim up to $800 for a divisional or mobile office.
That is in addition to the $240 now allocated to them each year for phone or data use at their own homes.
Money allocated for discretionary professional development has also risen by $2500 to $7500.
The total cost of the amendments is about $45,000.
The remuneration policy was unanimously endorsed by the councillors.
The new benefits are optional and councillors are not under an obligation to claim them.
