Crowds roll up for Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic

SPINNING reels and roaring outboard engines will launch the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic tomorrow.

Thousands of competitors will be on the Fraser Coast for the annual event, and to help celebrate the event's 22nd birthday.

Cars towing vans or boats have been rolling into town all week with caravan parks already at, or expecting to be by Saturday, full capacity.

For accommodation providers like the Burrum Heads Hillcrest Holiday Park, which sustained substantial damage from January's tornado, the event will provide some welcome good news.

"We had two bookings in yesterday and one the day before that, and we have 30 for today," park owner Sandra Sparrow said.

The Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic starts at 7am tomorrow and will wind up on Sunday afternoon.

There is more than $45,000 in prizes and giveaways up for grabs.
