Dot painting workshop part of school holiday activities

A DOT painting workshop by local Indigenous artist, Les Raveneau, is part of the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery's school holidays art activities available for children of all ages.

The interactive session, to be held on Tuesday, April, 14 from 10am to noon, will allow children to create their own Dreamtime story on canvas.

Tickets for the workshop cost $15 for non-members or $11 for Littleskipper/Mudskipper members and booking, which are essential, can be made by phoning 4197 4206.

Until April 19, young visitors can also explore the bold and colourful patterns of the Queensland Art Gallery exhibition Kids on Tour: Pattern Bandits by Jemima Wyman.

As part of the free program, children will be able to create a spinning mandala or their own personalised bandanna.

Councillor for cultural and performing arts Phil Truscott said the activities were an excellent opportunity for kids to explore their creative side.

"These workshops provide something interesting for kids to experience over the school holidays and learn some new skills in the process," he said.

"I encourage parents to bring them along to the gallery for some fun and entertainment."

The gallery is 166 Old Maryborough Rd in Pialba.
