Dunga Derby departs at dawn, bound for Bunya Ranges
CARS in the Fraser Coast's inaugural Dunga Derby departed the Fraser Coast at the crack of dawn this morning, bound for the mountains of the Bunya Ranges.
The charity derby left the Boat Club at 6am with sick teenager Jessie Moore and Cooper Christensen, who died on July 25 in their thoughts.
Derby organiser Mick Irwin said more than $80,000 had been raised to date, but he was hoping to reach $100,000.
"It's been really good to see the Fraser Coast community get behind us and the rally," he said.
"We'll have lunch in the Bunya Mountains (today) before spending the night under the stars at Lake Broadwater."
The money raised during the derby will go toward supporting local families of sick children.
