Elderly told to take care over phone scammers
ELDERLY Fraser Coast residents have been warned against giving out their personal and financial information over the phone.
There have been reports of someone impersonating a Blue Care worker and calling Blue Care clients asking for their personal bank details.
Blue Care executive director Robyn Batten said the clients knew to end the calls and reported it to our staff immediately.
"It is important all our clients and wider community are aware of these calls and take all precautions," Ms Batten said.
"If you get a call from someone claiming to be from your bank or any other organisation, don't give them your details. Instead, end the call, and then call the organisation in question to check it is really them calling.
"If you think that you've accidentally given out too much information check your bank statements carefully, and if you see anything unusual contact the police, as well as your bank, credit card provider or super fund."
