Epic bunker shot seals PGA win for Spieth
A LITTLE luck was on the side of Jordan Spieth, when the American recorded his 10th US PGA title with victory in the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.
The 2015 Masters and US Open champion, recorded a final-round par 70 to finish 72 holes level with fellow American Daniel Berger on 12-under 268 before racking up his win on the first play-off hole.
Spieth drove his tee shot into a tree on the par-4 18th hole in the play-off but a lucky bounce saw him play his second shot from the fairway.
The sixth-ranked Spieth was in trouble again landing his approach shot in a greenside bunker before Lady Luck smiled on him.
Spieth than blasted his shot out of the bunker before watching his ball roll gently into the cup.
After Spieth helped silence an excited ground, Berger lined up a long putt from off the green to extend the play-off.
Berger who trailed Spieth by five shots at one stage during the competition was unable to match the 23-year-old's heroics and celebrations began moments after.
Third-ranked Rory McIlroy shot 64 to finish on 274, having struggled much of the week.
