Exercise is good for the brain so take a class

BRAIN-a-size classes, designed to invigorate participants' brains to react faster, are starting again on February 10.

Councillor for community, heritage and family services George Seymour said the program at the Halcro Street Community Centre was extremely popular last year with a diverse range of people.

"No matter what your age, whether you are working or retired, exercising your brain daily helps to reduce the onset of illness like dementia and assists with memory and attention," he said.

"These sessions aim to improve learning skills, hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision and memory."

Presented by Kerrie Marshal, who has qualifications in Community Services, Brain Gym and Assessment and Workplace Training, the program is paced to suit all age groups.

Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and bring along a bottle of water.

The cost is $4 per session and classes will start at 10am.
