Falcons and Jets name teams for Hervey Bay blockbuster

INTERNATIONAL and former National Rugby League players will take the field at Stafford Park's historic Intrust Super Cup game on Saturday.

Arguably the biggest game to be played in Hervey Bay in recent time, the Sunshine Coast Falcons' eight-round game against Ipswich Jets promises to be a heavyweight clash.

Tongan international Nafe Seluini will start at hooker for the Falcons, while New Zealand rep David Fa'alogo and former South Sydney Rabbitoh Nathaniel Neale will start for the Jets.

Jets pair Billy McConnachie and Carlin Anderson are contracted to Brisbane Broncos while Falcon Joe Stimson is signed to Melbourne Storm.

The seventh-placed Falcons, coach by Craig Ingebrigtsen, are coming off a 30-point loss to Townsville Blackhawks, though this is their best campaign since reaching the semi finals in 2010 as the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles.

The Ben and Shane Walker-coached Ipswich Jets will have to overcome the loss of injured superstar Marmin Barba, who fractured his leg in last weekend's 30-22 loss to Wynnum-Manly Seagulls.

The Jets won last year's NRL State Championships after they beat NSW Cup champions Newcastle Knights.

The Intrust Super Cup clash will be the main event in Hervey Bay's eight-hour program.

One under-18s and two reserve grade games will be played before Hervey Bay Seagulls and Wests Panthers meet in their Bundaberg Rugby League epic at 4pm.

Both teams have won four and lost one game each, and victory will ensure either side remains equal first with Past Brothers.

A special Anzac ceremony to celebrate Fraser Coast's Young Veterans will be held at 6pm before the Intrust Super Cup sides lock horns at 6.30pm.
