Family of surfer caught in cocaine sting issues plea
THE STEPFATHER of a Sunshine Coast surfer arrested in Bali accused of dealing cocaine has pleaded for privacy.
Brendon Luke Johnsson faces charges of drug dealing which carry a maximum 20 year jail sentence. Johnsson appeared in the Balinese city of Denpasar today, dressed in a black balaclava and orange jumpsuit.
The 45-year-old's stepfather, Wurtulla's Ashley Robinson, said he was currently waiting for more information about the arrest.

"Obviously the family is devastated by the circumstances," he said.
"I would ask that our privacy be respected at this time."
The Daily understands Mr Johnsson attended Kawana Waters State High School and lived on the Coast until 2015.
Caloundra-based surfing coach Ben Silk grew up with Mr Johnsson but said they had drifted apart over the years.
"I used to know him well but I haven't seen him for 20 years," Mr Silk said.
"I know he'd been in Bali for a fair while. We only really spoke occasionally.
"He was a Wurtulla kid, I was Caloundra and we surfed as grommets in the boardriders together.
"It's pretty sad news to hear. I hope he's alright."
