First Fraser Coast Opportunities board members appointed
THE first Fraser Coast Opportunities board members have been appointed to two-year terms and are working for free.
The five members selected were: Paul Cotton, Theresa Craig, David Hay, Phil Ingram and Glen Winney.
Fraser Coast Mayor and FCO chairman Gerard O'Connell said the board had unanimous council support.
"Importantly, these people are volunteers," the mayor said.
"They give up their valuable time and contribute their experience and knowledge to advance the regional development objectives of our region."
Three of the board - Mr Hay, Dr Cotton and Mr Winney - sat on an FCO interim board.
In addition to the five elected, the board will include Cr O'Connell and Fraser Coast Regional Council chief executive officer Lisa Desmond.
FCO was formed on July 1, 2013, replacing in part Tourism Fraser Coast which ceased to operate.
It was set up to be the region's peak body for tourism, events, economic development and regional marketing.
Cr O'Connell said candidates from across the country were called for.
He said FCO was a not for profit company run independently of the council.
Dan Casey was also on the interim board but did not apply for a position.
