Firearm and Weapons Amnesty ends on April 30
WHETHER it's a firearm or a pair of knuckle dusters, less than a week remains for Fraser Coast residents to surrender or register weapons without the risk of penalty.
About 8000 weapons have been processed by Queensland Police during the Firearm and Weapons Amnesty, including restricted items such as flick knives, knuckle dusters or throwing stars.
Inspector Peter Assfalg said until April 30, appropriately licensed residents could register previously unregistered firearms through firearms dealers, armourers, firearms sporting clubs as well as police stations.
"Additionally, unlicensed owners can apply for a licence and anyone can surrender their unregistered firearm to be destroyed or sold to a firearms dealer."
