Firies investigate solar power inverter fire at Kawungan

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into the exact cause of a solar power inverter fire at Kawungan.

Just before 3pm on Monday July 6, a crew from Torquay Fire Station were called to an electrical fire at Talasea Drive, Kawungan.

On arrival firefighters found a solar power inverter to be alight on the exterior of the vacant house.

The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the electrical equipment.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Station Officer John Pappas said alert neighbours noticed the fire and immediately and called 000.

"Power and water doesn't mix. Fortunately the neighbours realised this and didn't attempt to put it out, instead keeping people at a safe distance until our arrival,"

QFES Fire Investigators and Electrical Inspectors are making further investigations as to the exact cause of the fire.
