Former M'boro MP Anne Maddern joins development board
IN HER first public role since losing the seat of Maryborough in January's state election, Anne Maddern has been named a member on the Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett board.
The former LNP member will join the committee in a voluntary role to help drive economic development across the region.
RDA WBB chair Bill Trevor said Ms Maddern would provide valuable experience and would be a strong contributor through her wide range of contacts and political pedigree.
"Now that she is no longer involved in politics she has more time to focus her energies on assisting the RDA WBB committee to ensure that the region has a strong voice and is working together to create and embrace economic opportunities," he said.
"Ms Maddern is still well connected within political spheres and I think her skill set and local understanding of the challenges across the region will complement our existing committee members."
Ms Maddern said she was excited by the role and excited to join the RDA WBB committee and eager to contribute to reduce the region's unemployment and support businesses to thrive.
Ms Maddern was defeated by Labor candidate Bruce Saunders after her first term and has kept a low profile since.
