Four tourism awards finalists
FRASER Coast tourism operators have taken out four finalist places in the Queensland Tourism Awards 2011, proudly presented by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL).
Hervey Bay Whale Watch represented the region well at this year's awards, becoming finalists in both the Tourist Attractions and the Tour and/or Transport Operators categories.
Eco Queenslander was a finalist in the Qantas Award for Excellence in Sustainable Tourism and Fraser Explorer Tours was a finalists in the tour transport operators' category.
Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre last night, the state's largest annual tourism awards proved a tough year but did little to deter the industry, as tourism businesses from across the state were rewarded for their outstanding contribution.
Now in its 27th year, the largest and most highly regarded tourism awards were again run by the state's peak industry body, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC).
