Robert Garland put forward fly-friendly motion
BURIED under the commotion surrounding Darren Everard's expulsion of helicopter flying schools was another motion designed to stop the helicopter noise.
At the Fraser Coast Regional Council meeting in Maryborough on Wednesday, Hervey Bay councillor Robert Garland, pictured, moved that the council negotiate a fly-neighbourly agreement.
The motion was to finalise the agreement that the council would look at restricting flight times and paths for helicopters through negotiations.
Cr Garland was highly critical of the council's current situation.
"The Mayor's walking around with egg on his face trying to sell the place," he said.
"As a community, we (should) take a deep breath to work through this challenging and emotive issue together.
"My motion ... carried unanimously, was designed to get these and any future operators to the table to determine fly-friendly protocols."
