I SUPPOSE we were kidding ourselves thinking that we could get a summer of golf in without a deluge of rain.
Looking on the bright side though, at least we didn't get hit as bad as a couple of other clubs last week.
The fairways and greens at Nudgee Golf Club were completely under while Bargara Golf Club had three holes under water.
Enough of the complaining though and at least we managed to get some golf played, so let's talk about that.
A small contingent of 25 players battled the wet conditions on Australia Day and Kim McKenna had a great score of 40 points to win by a point from Cameron Baker.
On Saturday 62 brave (or silly) golfers played a single stableford with Neil Smith shooting 39 points to win on a count back from Kim McKenna in A Grade.
In B Grade, the 34 points scored by Alan Harris was enough to get him over the line from Greg Darlington (33).
In ladies news, Maureen Freemantle has completed a family double.
Her husband Nigel won the men's summer competition a couple of weeks ago, now Maureen has won the ladies mid-week summer competition.
This Saturday, both the men and ladies will be playing for February's Monthly Medal.
Finally, I would like to say what a great job the veterans are doing on the course to assist our green-keeper Rodney.
The Dad's Army group seems to be growing every day and making a huge difference to the course.
