CROSSFIT fever has swept the globe, and it's now coming to Maryborough.

Maryborough fit man Rob Attenborough will open a training facility, known as a box in CrossFit terms, next month.

For the 23-year-old, it will be his second fitness business to launch this year after opening an affiliate in Hervey Bay in January.

"Living in Maryborough myself, I had a lot of people telling me they want to come along but it's too far for them to drive," he said.

"After hearing of the demand, I thought expanding to Maryborough would be a great way to make CrossFit available to everyone on the Fraser Coast."

The new facility also brings an opportunity for aspiring fitness professionals to get a hands-on taste of the industry.

"We are looking for interns to come join us and potentially go on to become qualified CrossFit instructors," he said.

"I'm passionate about personal and career development, and really sitting down with the interns and asking where they want to be in the future.

"A new coach we'll have here in Maryborough was actually part of the last intern program we had."

For those not familiar with CrossFit, it's a way of working out through incorporating movements from a range of sports.

These moves are turned into a "workout of the day" which is then done in class.

"We will start off with a fundamental course to teach everyone the exercises we do in CrossFit," Mr Attenborough said.

"You'll still be getting a workout at these sessions.

"My mum actually did the beginner course to try CrossFit and she loved it, and she could see she was getting stronger right away."

When not coaching or training, Mr Attenborough is actually the manger of Maryborough McDonald's.

"I think I find that contradiction weirder than other people do," he said.

"It's still a way to influence people's health; as many people would rather get a salad from Maccas, than go to a healthy café."
