Info evening and barbecue at Maryborough Gliding Club

AFTER taking to the skies and chasing clouds most glider passengers are hooked before they land, Maryborough Gliding Club secretary Janet Neisler says.

Ms Neisler said the Maryborough Gliding Club would host a social and information evening and barbecue on Friday from 5.30pm at the Maryborough Aero Club and everyone was welcome.

"Come out and find out why there are people who like flying aeroplanes without engines," Ms Neisler said.

"I learnt how to fly with the Maryborough Aero Club in 1974, was flying solo the following year and still have the passion."

The veteran pilot said it had been more than a decade since gliders regularly soared across the Fraser Coast skies.

"There is a glider suitable for training pilots based in Maryborough and will be available for hire to members once our operations start," Ms Neisler said. The information evening will be held at the Maryborough Aero Club, Maryborough Airport, Airport Dr.
