Hauritz joins Renegades for upcoming Big Bash League

HERVEY BAY junior Nathan Hauritz will play for Melbourne Renegades in the upcoming Big Bash League season.

Hauritz, 33, was a member of Sydney Thunder's squad last season, but will swap the electric green for red for the fifth BBL.

"I'm looking forward to a great summer in Melbourne with the Renegades," he said in a Renegades statement.

"The club has put together a strong squad this season and I'm looking forward to hitting the deck at Etihad Stadium in front of all the Renegades fans.

"It's an exciting time to be involved with the club."

The former international has taken 35 wickets in his 52 domestic Twenty20 games.

He joins exciting West Indian duo Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, limited overs specialist Cameron White, pace demons James Pattinson and Peter Siddle and hard-hitting opener Aaron Finch in the side.

The Renegades open their season against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on December 19.
