Sacked Wide Bay Water chairman welcomes government review
FORMER Wide Bay Water chairman Danny Mattsson hopes the State Government credit review will show some of the things the previous board was trying to achieve.
"We believe there are savings to be had, but not in the way the council is planning," he said.
Mr Mattsson called for the credit review to be quick and thorough.
The review by the Queensland Treasury Corporation will begin next month.
Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said it would include a presentation on the council's 10-year corporate plan.
He said he looked forward to progressing talks with the State Government on issues such as shared service agreements.
Several Wide Bay Water departments, such as IT and customer service, have been identified for potential to be transferred to the council.
Cr O'Connell said he expected the review would also mean an examination of government grants and subsidies that had since been stripped away.
Five Wide Bay Water board members, including Mr Mattsson, have either been sacked or resigned since July.
