THE shocking CCTV footage says it all.

A man, clad almost entirely in black with a cloth obscuring his face, produces a large knife and aggressively knocks down items from the counter of Maryborough's Lennox St Store.

He holds out a plastic bag, takes the money he has demanded, and is gone, almost as quickly as he appeared.

Store owner Carmela Dal Pozzo described the incident, which happened on Sunday, as brazen.

But she said the young women behind the counter at the time of the incident had done exactly what they had been instructed to do in the event of an armed robbery.

"They handled it well," Ms Dal Pozzo said.

"They did everything they could do. He got some money - it's nothing compared to their safety."

The girls were physically unharmed after the incident, but were left slightly shaken by the robbery, she said.

Ms Dal Pozzo said the store had just had a new CCTV system installed in recent weeks. She said while it was not something she wanted to see happen, in the case of the CCTV footage it was good timing.

Ms Dal Pozzo said she was hoping that someone would recognise the outfit the man was wearing and would be able to inform police of his identity.

It was the third time the business had been robbed in the past 20 years.

Description of the offender

The man is described as Caucasian, 180cm tall of average to solid build. He was wearing a fabric hat, black hooded jumper, dark pants and gloves. The man's face was obscured by cloth.
