Police hunt for hotel robber
POLICE are hunting a man who walked away with thousands of dollars in a late-night armed robbery at Urangan's Kondari Hotel over the weekend.
Around 11.50pm on Saturday a man walked into the bistro of the Kondari Hotel in Elizabeth St, Urangan, and demanded cash from a male employee.
He gestured to the staff member that he had a weapon hidden beneath his jumper, but did not reveal the weapon.
He fled the scene on foot after stealing cash from the till.
A police spokeswoman said witnesses described the man as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, about 175cm tall and of a muscular build.
The spokeswoman said police investigations were ongoing.
Kondari Hotel management declined to comment.
This is the second armed robbery on the Fraser Coast this month after a woman held up a Maryborough business with a knife two weeks ago.
The woman threatened an employee, demanding money and fleeing the scene.
Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
