Info sessions about amendments to planning scheme

TWO information sessions will be held to take residents through proposed amendments to the Fraser Coast Planning Scheme.

"Council is working to attract development to the region and these amendments will help us forge ahead with the Maryborough Airpark based around the Maryborough Airport, the Fraser Coast Sport Precinct at Nikenbah as well as sell some surplus land," infrastructure and planning portfolio councillor Trevor McDonald said.

The information sessions will be held on:

  • February 9, Hervey Bay Community Centre, 4pm to 6pm
  • February 12, Brolga Theatre, Maryborough 4pm to 6pm

Copies of the proposed amendments can be viewed and downloaded from the Have Your Say section of the council's website from Tuesday, January 27.

Copies will also be available for reading at the council's customer service centres in Hervey Bay and Maryborough.

"Residents can make submissions on the proposed amendments," Cr McDonald said.

"They can lodge submissions electronically by filling in a form on the Have Your Say page on the Council website, they can be emailed to or posted to the CEO."

Written submissions must be lodged by 4.45pm on Monday, March 9, include the name and address of each person making the submission, include the reasons for supporting or opposing the amendment and be signed by each person making the submission (if not lodged electronically).

"Residents can also contact council's principal officer planning services Danika Cowie if they have questions about the rezoning amendments," he said.

"Danika can be contacted by email at or by telephone at 1300 794 929."
