OPINION: Inspiration comes from many places

IN THE coming weeks, people from across the Fraser Coast will put their hands up to shave their heads to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.

During my time at the Chronicle, I've interviewed people who have shaved their heads for this important cause.

I've also interviewed families and people who have been affected by leukemia.

Both of these types of stories have the ability to inspire and amaze.

People who make a sacrifice to help others, in whatever form that sacrifice comes, are so special.

They are people the community can be completely proud of.

And people like Chris Olin - a Hervey Bay man who was among the first people I ever interviewed on the Fraser Coast when I first started here - is also among the most inspirational people I've ever met.

His determination to make a difference for others who find themselves in the same situation he has - with a diagnosis of blood cancer - is nothing short of moving and impressive.

It makes me proud to live here.
