Join celebration of cultural diversity next week

THE University of Southern Queensland will join the Fraser Coast community in celebrating cultural diversity during Harmony Week in Hervey Bay next week.

Harmony Week is five days of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home - from the traditional owners of the land to those who have come from countries around the world.

The USQ Fraser Coast community will join the Pialba Precinct Partners' celebration from Monday to Friday with a cooking class, belly dancing, afternoon melodies, traditional games, a drumming workshop, multicultural lunch and art project.

USQ Vice-Chancellor Jan Thomas said the 2015 Harmony Week theme was Celebrating Our Cultural Diversity.

"We would love the local community to join us at the Pialba Precinct Partners celebration as we celebrate Australia's rich tapestry of cultural, social and religious diversity," she said.

"I invite everyone to come along to have fun and learn more about how all Australians belong to and enrich our country."
