At last: $1m to be spent on final piece of Old Toogoom Rd

THE final piece of Old Toogoom Rd that needs to be rebuilt has finally been funded by the Federal Government.

Fraser Coast councillor Trevor McDonald said $1 million would be spent on the 790m project which starts at the intersection of Old Toogoom Rd and Torbanlea-Pialba Rd.

He said the project included widening the pavement to two lanes and installing new culverts.

"The work will be undertaken by council," Cr McDonald said.

"Work is scheduled to start in late February."

Weather permitting, the project should be finished by the end of July.

He said the road would remain open during the project and traffic would be diverted around the site at times.
