Lorna snags cash draw at fishing competition

BIG crowds, a record weigh in and a heap of prizes capped off what Hervey Bay Boat Club president George Duck described as "a fantastic four days of fun" at the VMR Hervey Bay Family Fishing Competition.

Lucky angler Luke Hislop won $1000 for best fish with his whopping 28.6kg Cobia while marine radios were awarded to the next three best fish chosen by Mr Duck - a 7.9kg red emperor to Phil O'Donoghue, an 11.5kg blue parrot to Curtis Muller and a 5.4kg jew fish to Terry Young.

Heaps of prizes were given out throughout the competition but the big winner was Lorna Peters who is $5000 richer after winning the cash draw.
