Make a mosaic tile for your garden at $5 workshop

LEARN how to make a colourful mosaic tile for your garden path or garden bed at a workshop at the Halcro Street Community Gardens on Saturday, February 8, from 8am to 11am.

Councillor for community, heritage and family services George Seymour said for a fee of $5 all tiles, pavers and glue would be provided and people would be able to take home their creation at the end of the workshop.

"We want people of all ages, whether you have real artistic flair or just want a fun morning out at the gardens," he said.

Cr Seymour said participants would need to bring rubber gloves, a cloth for wiping, ice-cream container to mix glue and a simple design for the tile.

He said the community gardens were a place where people could grow fruits, vegetables and herbs, as well as a meeting place to relax and unwind.

"It also features a sensory garden where carers and care recipients can relax and meditate, swap recipes, and share gardening secrets and everything in between," Cr Seymour said.

"We're planning workshops covering seeding and gardening, seedling propagation and healthy cooking classes so we really want to hear from groups and residents that would be interested in attending.

"Having the Community Centre next door means we can extend the activities to cooking classes, art workshops and seed saving to name a few.
