Make no bones about it, this is great ham

IF YOU'RE looking to taste one of Queensland's best hams, a local butcher can satisfy your cravings.

Granville Butchery has placed second in the state at the Brisbane Ekka with its boneless leg ham.

Owners Andrew and Narine Booth, who also did well with their bacon, kabanas and cooked silverside, said it was their first time at the Ekka.

"We didn't expect anything," Mr Booth said.

"We just thought we'd cure our curiosity ... we got the results and were mind-blown," he said.

Mr Booth said there were plenty of sausage kings around, but not every butcher made their own ham and bacon in their own smokehouse.

"It's all processed here. All done by hand," he said.

Mr Booth encouraged butchers to give the Ekka a go.

Granville Butchery is at 15 Odessa St.
