UPDATE: Dogs impounded after attack in Hervey Bay

UPDATE: 

Fraser Coast Regional Council officers have impounded the dogs involved in an attack on an elderly man in Hervey Bay. 

A man in his 80s was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital after he was attacked by dogs on Wednesday. 

CEO Ken Diehm said council would investigate the attack. 

"Because of the severity of the attack, and the possibility that charges may result, Council does not wish to comment any further at this stage," Mr Diehm said. 

The breed of the dogs are unknown.

EARLIER: 

A MAN in his 80s was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital after he was attacked by dogs.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was reportedly bitten by two dogs at a Torquay address.

The man suffered lacerations from his knee to his ankle.

Paramedics got the call just before 10am.
