Near-misses on Bruce Hwy at Tinana spark call for action
A TINANA resident who has faced multiple near-misses while turning off the Bruce Hwy has called on Wide Bay MP Warren Truss to take action.
Graeme Naylor emailed Mr Truss three times between October 22 and November 25 calling for an upgrade to the Tinana stretch of the highway and intersections to residential areas.
"You hear a siren and you think 'not another one'," he said.
Mr Truss responded to Mr Naylor this week and said his intersection would put forward for consideration to be included in the 2014-15 priority safety program.
Mr Naylor questioned the lengthy response time and called for even more to be done to prevent more fatal crashes near Maryborough.
"Here we are living on a goat track," he said.
A representative of Mr Truss said the government would invest $6.7billion into the entire Bruce Hwy, including $30.4million to help upgrade the Tinana interchange.
The representative said the time it took to respond to constituent queries varied.
"Detailed queries may take longer - but a response is always provided."
