New centre of attention attracts more than 1000 visitors

MORE than 1100 people took the time to walk through the new Fraser Coast Cultural Centre on the weekend, taking in the Fraser Coast Discovery Sphere and the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery.

Discovery sphere co-ordinator Vanida Petts said the centre would be a great attraction for the Fraser Coast and the events held on the weekend had been the perfect way to celebrate its opening.

The events included presentations from the artists who created the first two displays at the new art gallery.

Fraser Coast artist Hilary Latta and photographer Richard Green both spoke about their displays.

People also enjoyed the Discovery Sphere, which showcases the natural attractions of the Fraser Coast region.

Ms Petts said it would be a great rainy day attraction for tourists and would be an education tool for school students as well.
