Alleged one-punch victim released from hospital

UPDATE APRIL 17, 10AM: The victim of an alleged one-punch attack in Hervey Bay has been sent home from hospital.

Nick Rourke was admitted to hospital on April 8 after the violent incident outside a pub on the Charlton Esplanade.

The 21-year-old suffered severe head injuries and was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

The Hervey Bay resident was put into ICU, described to be in a serious condition.

Mr Rourke's condition continued to improve during his hospital stay as he went from serious to stable.


UPDATE APRIL 12, 10.30AM: NICK Rourke's condition is improving, based on reports from the hospital that the Hervey Bay resident is staying in.

The 21-year-old was in a stable condition on Wednesday morning, a Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital spokesperson informed the Fraser Coast Chronicle.

On Tuesday, the victim of an alleged one-punch attack was described to be in a serious condition.

It has been almost five days since the incident took place.

Mr Rourke suffered serious head injuries from the alleged attack in front of a licensed venue in Hervey Bay on Saturday night.

Mr Rourke was first taken to Hervey Bay Hospital after the incident on the Charlton Esplanade at about 11.20pm.

He was airlifted to the Brisbane hospital shortly after.
