Police are treating Walker St butchery fire as suspicious

POLICE are currently guarding the scene of a butcher shop fire in Maryborough which occurred overnight.

About 9.50pm on Wednesday, the rear store room of Fairfield Butchery in Walker St was found to be well ablaze.

The fire was extinguished however the premises sustained significant fire and smoke damage.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and scientific officers will examine the scene later on Thursday morning.
