Mary Poppins musical to debut at Maryborough's Brolga Theatre
FOR the first time, Mary Poppins The Musical will make its way to the home of the internationally known nanny and her marvellous adventures.
On Friday Maryborough's Brolga Theatre will be transformed into an enchanting world of magic when the musical makes its debut as part of the Mary Poppins festival on Sunday.
The musical is based on the series of children's books by PL Travers and the Walt Disney film about the world's most famous nanny.
Councillor for Cultural Arts Phil Truscott said the cast and crew had been working overtime to bring together the practically perfect performance.
"So much time and energy has gone into this production," Cr Truscott said.
"We have over 20 principal players, singing and dancing choruses as well as an orchestra who have been busily rehearsing four days a week," he said.
More than 60 costumes were sewn for the production by local seamstresses.
"We are fortunate to have such a talented group of local artists, both cast and crew, who have volunteered their time to be a part of this amazing show," Cr Truscott said.
The audience can stay and meet the cast after each show.
The Mary Poppins Festival will be held in Maryborough's Portside precinct on Sunday.
