Power captain will be healthy for Battle of the Bay

AUSSIE RULES: Bay Power coach Michael Gay has hosed down any concerns about Josh Wheeler's ankle injury.

The sight of the Power captain hobbling to the eastern touchline, hand in the air, appeared to be missed by most elimination final spectators.

The inspirational leader appeared to have come out of a contest second best during Saturday night's win against Brothers Bulldogs.

But Gay said the product of Newcastle, New South Wales, would be fine for Saturday's preliminary final against arch rivals Hervey Bay Bombers.

"He'll get knocked down and get straight back up again,” Gay said. "Bit of magic spray, some tape, and off he goes.”

Wheeler dismissed any concerns he would miss the final.

"I think it's a bit of a heel injury running out on that cricket pitch a few weeks ago, but it's not too bad,” Wheeler said.

The Power faces the Bombers at Brothers AFL Complex, Bundaberg, on Saturday.
