Protection against shifting sands at Ernie Organ Park
During this weekend (November 14-16), the northerly winds caused havoc to the sand dunes on the Bay foreshore where vegetation has been removed during the last two years by the council.
The park goer in the photo is attempting to avoid the discomfort of the stinging sand being whipped up by the northerlies that blow regularly during the summer months.
Areas of Ernie Organ Park that are protected by the cottonwoods (some of which the council now want to remove) had no sand on the grass and there was very little wind.
Unfortunately all the tables there were taken and this park goer had to resort to full facial protection.
