Students learn about mangroves on Burrum Heads camping trip

A GROUP of Maryborough's St Mary's College students are exploring the Fraser Coast's ecosystems and learning about them.

More than 40 Year 11 students from the school were in Burrum Heads for three days this week learning about the area's mangroves and environment.

It was part of a camp for the school's marine and biology classes who were studying the Burrum River ecosystem.

The students collected samples from the area's mudflats and have taken them back to the school science labs for analysis.

As part of the trip the group have camped at the Burrum Heads Beachfront Caravan Park for the past three days.
