Could Wide Bay increase water restrictions to level 2?
A DECISION will be made today by Wide Bay Water executive management whether to increase water restrictions to level 2.
But chief executive Linda Vanner said the decision would depend on whether overnight rainfall over Lake Lenthall Dam's catchments was enough to get water levels back into the green.
The level 2 water restrictions could come into effect as soon as Sunday.
On Saturday, Lake Lenthall Dam, which supplies Hervey Bay, Toogoom, Burrum, Torbanlea and Howard, was recorded with a water level of about 59%.
Wide Bay Water issued a warning in December for residents to keep water usage in check following a drop in water level to 60%.
Only 30mm rainfall fell over the dam's catchment last month, the lowest December downfall since recording began in 2001.
Bureau of Meteorology's meteorologist Adam Blazak anticipated overnight downfall would have a minimal effecton Lake Lenthall's dam levels. "Probably less than 5mm is at most expected I would say," he said.
