Refuge dogs, cats get treats from students
VOLUNTEERS and staff at the Maryborough Animal Refuge were overwhelmed when students from the Maryborough Special School dropped out with a huge box of goodies for their pets.
The school held their massive annual book fair which was themed Paws for Books.
During the fair the library was transformed into a dog and cat scene.
Teacher Josey Pamenter said the school community organised the hamper for the refuge.
"To go with the book fair theme, we thought it appropriate," Josey said.
"It was a really nice way to give back and help the refuge. There is a group of students who attend the refuge each Tuesday to volunteer with socialising and grooming."
Staff and parents were happy to donate food and toys to the hamper.
"We were also very thankful to the community who came to support our book fair - we can now purchase some news books and equipment for the children."
