Renovations start fresh chapter for South Burnett libraries

WONDAI and Nanango libraries will soon offer bookworms a fresh place to hunt for reading material as renovation work continues.

South Burnett Regional Councillor Terry Fleischfresser said the builder and sub-contractors had completed the Wondai Administration and Library refurbishment on time and within budget.

"Council staff this week (have been) finalising the installation of IT equipment, modifying and reusing some of the existing shelving to relocate books and magazines, and setting up the new reading areas and meeting room,” Cr Fleischfresser said.

The refurbished Wondai Administration and Library will reopen to the public on Monday, May 20.

Preparations have started for work on the Nanango office and library, and work will start in early June.

The council staff, records and furniture has been relocated from the Nanango office into other council offices, halls and depots across the South Burnett region.

All council staff can still be contacted through the council's phone and email systems.

The Nanango customer contact staff have temporarily relocated to the South Burnett Energy Centre across the road.

The Nanango Visitor Information Centre volunteers and library staff have also been operating a small boutique library from the Energy Centre.
